Current Client Challenges

We are heading into Performance Review time. Many people find writing and delivering effective reviews a daunting task. Hopefully folks have been managing their team all through the year so that the annual review does not become the annual surprise. For Leaders to be able to achieve success in their organizations, they must be able to grow and retain top talent.

  • Do you block out time to think about each member of your team specifically?
    • Their successes in 2011
    • Their Challenges in 2011
  • Have you identified specific behaviors you need to see them exhibit, in order for you to feel they are ready for advancement?
  • Do your performance discussions motivate and retain your top people?
  • Do your folks feel valued and appreciated or will they become increasingly disillusioned and vulnerable to other career opportunities?

In terms of your team's objectives for next year, have you thought about what each objective would look like as an Exceeds, Meets or Needs improvement?

Managers often find planning for and executing performance appraisals quite challenging and stressful.

Even more people find it difficult to hear performance feedback and either shut down or get defensive. Learning ways to stay focused and manage your internal environment while hearing feedback are important skills for career success.

What My Clients Are Saying!

Kim Coburn is an amazing professional and personal life coach.  I worked with Kim Coburn over the span of a 3-month period, which included a series of Executive Coaching sessions aimed at improving team management, collaboration and accountability. Each session with Kim was very productive and provided me with practical strategies and methods for implementing with my team. Over the course of a very short period of time, Kim was able to drill down to the core issues at hand and help me immediately develop a road-map of best practices for managing my team. I would certainly consider working with Kim in the future and would recommend Kim Coburn to anyone seeking to improve their personal and professional development. I want to take a moment to thank you for the opportunity to partner with you and help you achieve your goals. I am humbled and grateful for your trust. I applaud your efforts and your successes.

As we head into a new year, it is critical to carve out some time to think and assess. Ask yourself:

As I reflect upon 2011,

  • What went well?
  • What successes am I most proud of?
  • Have I fully celebrated my successes?
  • What went less well?
  • What areas of my life need more energy and focus next year?
  • What would be the payoff for generating improvements in these areas?
  • What might the cost be of waiting another year before I take action?

Let me help you make 2012 the best ever. Don't procrastinate, call or email me today to sign up for a free consultation.

Am I A Good Boss?

Clients ask me this question often. I usually respond with a question of my own - "When was the last time you solicited feedback from your customers?"

Are you remembering your team and your peers are your customers?

Conducting periodic informal "Customer Satisfaction Surveys" within your team and/or peer groups are important and savvy ways to effectively position you for success. You cannot mange perceptions if you don't know what people are thinking about you and how they feel about working with you.
